People people people relax - they are real coffee, they do work in the keurig and the cuisinart one cup model BUT, and this is a great but, they just use less plastic in their design. For anyone who uses the one cup brewers it should bother you a little bit that every time you do you are throwing away a little plastic cup - with the popularity of these models that is a lot of plastic well San Francisco Bay Coffee has eliminated the cup- YEAH!! You get a delicious one cup brew, so no waste there AND you are not adding to our landfills.

My wife and I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we loved this coffee, the San Francisco Bay Coffee Decaf French Roast blend. When I spotted this coffee on Amazon for use in the Keurig brewer I immediately ordered it in some quantity based on our past experience. I was surprised to discover that the coffee is not contained within a K-Cup container but rather it is contained in a coffee filter like material with a top which fits into the K-Cup receptacle of the brewer. Our family results are mixed. My wife likes this coffee and drinks it a few times each day. My experience was that the coffee flavor is still good but the hot water passes through the coffee and filter paper too quickly which produces a watered-down coffee flavor. I wish the San Francisco Bay Coffee company would get the necessary licenses to put their coffee into actual K-Cup pods. If the price was competitive, my wife and I would be steady customers. But for my tastes, I'll stick with the Green Mountain dark roast decaf coffees which have a richer coffee flavor.

I took a shot based on the great "subscribe and save" pricing for these. Haven't tried them in my brewer yet, but a few initial impressions "as received":

1. These are not k-cups in the traditional sense. There's no "cup" to them, just the filter attached to a rim with a seal on it. So I don't see how these could possibly "brew" in the cup like a k-cup is supposed to brew. I'm betting these are another "instant" coffee designed to fit a Keurig brewer.
2. The shipment of 3 packages of 12 each that I received was 3 clear plastic bags. No box as shown on the listing picture. Now I get it they say packing may differ from that depicted, but IMHO it's dishonest of Amazon to display these online with a box when they know they aren't going to ship them that way.
3. Combining #1 and #2 together means once you open the plastic bag of 12, since the individual servings aren't sealed per se, in order to keep them fresh it seems to me you would need to put them in some sort of sealed container. Not at all user friendly for the many "carousel" and "drawer" k-cup storage units offered.

I do not plan to open and try them at all.

UPDATE 1/10/2012: As you can see from above, I wasn't particularly happy with what I received. But as I said, those were my "initial impressions" and I believe fairly stated for what they are. That said, I did contact Amazon customer service about my displeasure, and they issued a full credit to my account. I've been buying from Amazon since 1998, and this is probably only the 4th or 5th time I've requested a refund on a purchase. Since this is a grocery item, Amazon said they could not accept a return even IF unopened, and the customer service rep encouraged me to keep the coffee and go ahead and try it. So, I did.
I'm happy to report that it is INDEED real coffee (not instant), the aroma is great and the taste is great. I've upped my rating from 2 to 4 stars. I do feel justified in knocking the score 1 star for the inadequate description as people need to understand these are NOT "K-cups", but they ARE real coffee packaged in a manner different than most would expect when buying coffee for their Keurig. And I still contend that displaying what looks like a nice retail box in the item photo is also misleading.
My issue #3 of course remains unresolved, and also contributes to the lower of my rating. You need to keep these stored in a decanter or some other sealed container if you want to keep the other 11 fresh after you open the plastic bag to brew up your first cup.

This product is an interesting cross between a Keurig cup and a pod. They work in my old B-70, but just from looking at it you can see that it contains less coffee than a typical k-cup. As a result, it brews a decent cup of coffee on the lower setting, but it's weak as a grande. That may work for you - at the current subscribe-n-save price it's cheap for a k-cup.

The flavor is perfectly ok - I'm not a coffee purist, but I'd call it a dark blend more akin to Sumatran than Colombian, i.e. not so smooth.

There is one thing I guess I should add - these things have a pod-type body, i.e. a filter-packet holding the coffee, instead of the k-cup's all-plastic body. Typical pods come in individual sealed packets to preserve freshness, but all 12 k-pods in each SFBay box are in a single, non-resealable plastic envelope. This means that once you've opened the envelope, you're losing freshness faster than usual. Again I'm no purist, but this would lead to staler coffee if you're not brewing these in a hurry - or resealing them somehow? The box offers no advice or directions.

As the other reviewers have said, this is not a K-cup! I uploaded an image of one of these pods next to a K-cup for comparison. The difference is the filter is exposed in these pods as opposed to being fully sealed in a K-cup. Since the coffee is exposed to the air when you open the package, you will have to seal them with a clip or put them in an airtight bag or tupperware to prevent the rest of the pods from loosing freshness. Having said that, in my experience they are a great inexpensive alternative to use in your Keurig brewer. The 36 count boxes arrived as unmarked brown cardboard boxes, not the colorful retail packaging shown on amazon. Inside each cardboard box, there are three clear heavy duty plastic bags, each of which holds 12 of the pods. The bags are not resealable!

I decided to give the San Francisco Bay Rainforest Blend Organic Arabica onecup a try this morning.
When I open the box I notice a similar smell as the Fog Chaser blend but not nearly as strong.
Oddly I find the description on the Box exactly the same as that of Fog Chaser.
Their Website shows this as Reguler Full city Roast and describes it as follows :
Our certified organic, Rainforest Blend is an artful mix of coffees from Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, and Indonesia that produces a smooth, yet full-bodied taste with lively acidic notes.
The onecup brews perfectly in my B70 and like it smelled befor brewing produced a more delicate cup than the fog chaser but still very flavorful when brewed.
Maybe this is the same blend of coffee beans only roasted alittle lighter?
The wife and I tend to favor the Dark Roast extra bold Kcups and on occasion Medium roasts as well.
This Rainforest Blend is alittle light for me but it's really flavorful and wins me over all the same.
So far I'm really liking these offerings from Rogers Family company and would purchase them again if the price remains competitive to Kcups.
I was originally concerned by the fact they are not individually sealed for freshness.
The wife and I normally drink 2 cups a day so we can polish off a box of 12 in three days once opened so the coffee does not lose much freshness.
The downside is we need to drink only these for three days in a row instead of mixing it up depending on how we feel each day as we currently do with Kcups if we want to keep them as fresh as possible.

I have tried each of these New K-cup like items from San Francisco Bay. This one is darker than the Rainforest blend but not as dark as the Fog Chaser (my personal favorite).

Full disclosure - I worked briefly for the people who make this product back in the late '70s. Since I had a personal connection to the product, I really wanted to like it. And it's not bad - it's OK, but it's just a bit odd.

First off, the packaging. These aren't your father's K-Cup, where it's an actual cup. These have a top like the traditional cup (so they'll fit in the brewer) but the bottom is completely different. It's almost more like a filter than a cup, and kinda rounded rather than cup-shaped. They come in sealed plastic bags of twelve, so you need to keep them in a ziplock bag or some kind of airtight container once you open the bag, unless you're planning on using them all right away.

Second, the flavor. It's OK, not bad at all, but it just tastes a little off for some reason. A hint of odd flavor. Also, it seems to lack body, for want of a better term. It doesn't have that rich, full, satisfying flavor I expect from a good cup of French Roast.

Lastly, it seems to leave more sediment in the bottom of the cup than traditional K-Cups - not sure if that's a by-product of the design or what.

Bottom line - it's not like I'm going to throw them away. I'll keep them and drink them, but I probably won't buy them again. I much prefer the flavor of just about any regular K-Cup to these, even non-premium brands like Folger's.

UPDATE: After drinking my way through the whole case and comparing them with other K-Cup products, I have a bit more appreciation for these and might consider buying them again, particularly given the excellent price of around 38 cents a cup if you use Subscribe and Save. One other point I neglected to mention in my original review is that these seem to produce more "crema" - the brownish foam that appears on top of a good cup of coffee - than most K-Cup products. Keep an eye out for my reviews of the Rainforest Blend (which I found somewhat weak and flavorless) and Fog Chaser (which just arrived and I've yet to sample) varieties coming soon.

I just received these 'k-cups' a few days ago. I ordered them on subscribe and save because of the value. I failed to read all reviews, just a few to make sure they were good. When I opened the package, I thought I was sent a wrong item...until I realized these are k-cups, but not the usual looking ones. They are foil sealed with a plastic ring around the top, and the rest of it is a filter. When placed in the brewer, just a hole gets punched on the top, not bottom. Something new perhaps? I tried a cup and I admit, it was very good coffee, full flavor. I will purchase these again and do recommend them. These do arrive in a shipping box, but the k-cups are sealed in plastic bags.

I purchased this set of Keurig Cups along with a Keurig machine as a gift for a charity event. I have a machine myself and love it, however, when I first got my machine, it only had 5-6 various sample cups included with the machine itself and it took me a while to get a case. So, I know how inconvenient it is to not receive a collection kit to start out with. This collection is really terrific--there a a number of different types of coffee included and with 48 cups per box, it would last most people 2-3 weeks. I really recommend this as a gift of for yourself to try out different flavors.
